Thoughts on October

I have a treasured photo of my Oma that I keep next to my computer, pictured in her German dress. She was a seamstress, and worked at Camp International in Jackson, Michigan where she made mastectomy bras. I am proud of how hard she worked. My step-grandmother worked there too, pictured next to her in their work space. Many years later, My mom was in her 50’s when she had a breast removed. We never talked about it much. I wish we would have. I know today, if she was still with us, I would offer more inspirational words to comfort her.

My Mom was a cancer survivor.

My Oma was a WW2 survivor.

With all the challenges they had to overcome, they kept going.

They both remain an inspiration for me. I hope to be an inspiration to my nieces and sisters. Possibly through my artwork and surface pattern designs.

I’m blessed to still have strong ladies in my life. With all the challenges they may have to overcome, they will keep going.

Bye for now,

This post is dedicated to my Mom who passed, on Halloween, 2008.
