Charlevoix is beautiful in wintertime too! This vintage photo I captured decades ago. It depicts a rather gray day. Soon the water starts to ice over, and from above, I see how settled Lake Michigan can be...while in it’s slumber...inside it’s iced cage. When the ice gives way, the patterns and swirls that danced on air will no longer be there.

I read about #Petoskey stones, and the best time to find more, could be after a storm. Hold on, what if it’s not a rocky beach and the waves are rushing in? That day at Lake Michigan, we found little treasures after a couple of hours of combing through the sand we scooped up with our hands. The little blue ones are Leland slag and glass.⚓️ It was a beautiful day.

Today we could all use a little sunshine and sand. Take me back to Leland!
